We are pleased to welcome Dr. Christopher Bowen to Freedom Dental, joining our practice in June 2026.
Dr. Bowen brings a distinguished background in dentistry and leadership, having retired as a Colonel from the United States Army after 21 years of honorable service in 2023. Dr. Bowen and Dr. Pappas share a common philosophy of conservative, high-quality dentistry and a deep commitment to treating every patient like family. Their collaborative approach and shared values make Dr. Bowen a natural fit for the Freedom Dental team.
Dr Bowen’s Army career included serving as a paratrooper in the mighty 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg, NC. As an Army Dentist, Dr. Bowen served in a variety of clinical and leadership roles, including four years as Dental Surgeon for the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), with two deployments to Iraq. His service has been recognized with numerous military honors. He is known for his humility, compassion, and dedication to patient-centered care.
Dr. Bowen completed both 1-Year and 2-Year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residencies in the U.S. Army and he served for six years as Program Director of the AEGD Residency at Fort Carson, Colorado. He has a strong passion for same-day digital dentistry and maintains broad clinical expertise across all dental disciplines. He is Board Certified by the American Board of General Dentistry and earned his Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry in July 2023.
Dr. Bowen and his family are relocating from Colorado Springs, Colorado to Niceville, Florida to be closer to family and all that the Florida panhandle offers. They are excited to become active members of the local community. He was drawn to Dr. Pappas and Freedom Dental by its culture of compassion, connection, and commitment to excellence—values that align closely with his own.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Bowen has been happily married to his wife, Jessica, for 25 years. She is a former Army Nurse, combat veteran, and currently serves in Women’s Ministry! They have three children: Carson (18), Kaylen (15), and Annabelle (9), as well as a somewhat naughty yellow labrador named Dakota. Dr Bowen enjoys golf, skiing, hiking, fly fishing, and all things sports! He thoroughly enjoys serving others through dental mission trips to the Dominican Republic and volunteer work with the Mission of Mercy.
